Dixie Transportation Expo Gives Public Chance to View/Discuss Projects with Planning Experts TODAY!

Do you use local, state and or federal roads in Washington County? Do you walk or ride a bike? Do you use or would you like to use public transit? Do you have any concerns or ideas regarding the future transportation needs in southwestern Utah? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions please join us at the Dixie Transportation Expo on Tuesday, February 2, between 11:30 am to 7:00 pm at the Dixie Center (1835 So. Convention Center Dr.) in St. George.

This is a perfect opportunity for everyone to get information regarding current and future public transportation projects in Washington County from those who are doing the planning, studies and construction from the ground up! Over 20 booths will feature projects like the proposed Mall Drive bridge, Dixie Drive Interchange, proposed Virgin River Bridge in Washington, widening of SR-9 in Hurricane, Bluff Street widening Environmental Assessment Study and of course up-to-date information on the new St. George Municipal Airport currently under construction.

“Not only is the expo a place to become informed about transportation issues but also a place to share your ideas with those who will be directly involved in future projects,” said Mayor Dan McArthur. “Many of the participating agencies have implemented ideas they have received at past expos,” he added.

Due to the high popularity of guided replacement airport tours during the Washington County Economic Summit held a few weeks ago, event organizers decided to incorporate similar tours into the expo this year. Guided van tours will be departing the Dixie Center at noon, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 pm during the expo. There is only enough seating for 28 passengers per tour so those who are interested are encouraged to make a reservation by calling 627-4006 Jan. 28-Feb. 1 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Walk-ons will be accommodated on a first-come first-serve basis.

The Dixie Transportation Expo is sponsored by the Utah Department of Transportation, Hurricane City, City of St. George, Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization, Ivins City and Washington City.
