The St. George Police Department is hosting the 14th annual session of the Citizen’s Academy. If you’ve ever wanted to know if the things that they do on CSI are really possible, this is the chance to find out. If you ever wanted to know why the police do what they do, why they do it and how, this is your chance.
There will be demonstrations from the Gang and Drug Task force, the SWAT Team, the Motor squad. There will be a day at the range where the bomb squad will blow up suspicious packages and demo the bomb robot. The investigations classes have been expanded from two to four days because of popular demand. They will show how they investigate death scenes, Identity Theft and crimes against children There will even be a day to ask the chief of police anything that you want. And this is all free!
Two nights a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours each night, the Citizens Academy is scheduled to begin in January and will last about 8 weeks.It is open to law-abiding residents over the age of 18 (due to the nature of the topics that will be presented), giving preference to citizens of St. George. A limited background check will be done and a letter of acceptance along with a schedule of the classes will be sent out to those that are accepted into the Academy.
