Handel’s Messiah, A Christmas Tradition

Once again, it’s that time of year: Christmas traditions, trimming the tree, shopping, caroling, parties, and Handel’s Messiah. Southern Utah’s tradition of Handel’s Messiah will be perform on December 6 and 7th at the Cox Performing Arts Center on Dixie State College Campus. Under the direction of Maestro Gary Caldwell, the Southwest Symphony Orchestra and the Southwest Symphonic Chorale with Dr Robert Briggs will perform the annual Christmas concert. Handel’s immortal masterpiece lifts and elevates the human soul as it paints the picture of Christ’s life from birth on to his ministry. The message is communicated masterfully in exquisite Oratorial style with music and song. Both the music and lyrics have a profound message of beauty and majesty. Audiences worldwide have cherished this popular Christmas Oratorio for centuries.

Highlighting this year’s performances will be soloist Brodie Perry, Adam Scott, Pamela Jensen, Jessica Patterson, Jenny Smith, Susan Solstad, Shanda Ziegler, Lisa West, John Scott, Terri Metcalf Peterson, and Jeremy Lister.
