John, Rob, & Jason each have a piece of art in the exhibit, Visions of Zion. Don’t miss your opportunity to hear from this fascinating family of artists.
John Lefkow is from New York where he taught art at the public school and University level. He received his B.S. from New York University and his M.A. from Adelphi University. Working in a variety of media such as welded bronze, mosaic, cast concrete and wood laminates, he
collaborated with architects to create contemporary sculpture and murals for numerous public buildings and outdoor spaces.
Since moving to St. George, John has taught at Dixie College and exhibited at both the St. George Art Museum and the Eccles Art Gallery at Dixie College. Both museums have purchased his wood reliefs for their permanent collection.
Born and Raised on Long Island, New York, Jason Lefkow acquired an early appreciation for the fine art field. Son of an art teacher, Jason is proudly following in the footsteps of his father John (a painter and sculptor) as well as his older brother Robert (a landscape photographer). In a pursuit to create unique art work, Jason incorporates the use of Mahogany and Birch veneers with the wonders of the southwest landscape to achieve the medium known as “Woodscapes”.
Rob Lefkow was born in New York and worked as an engineer until discovering the west in the early 90’s. After experiencing the incredible assortment of shapes, colors, and textures of the Colorado Plateau, he relocated to St. George. He then set to work on improving his photographic techniques in an attempt to capture and share his surroundings with the goal to create unique images that hopefully captures some of the magic of the canyon country and desert southwest. Rob tends to concentrate on smaller portions of the big landscape, such as slot canyons, rock formations, abstract patterns, and Native American imagery.
Most of his free time is spent searching out new and exciting places to photograph. Rob’s interest in early American cultures has led him to explore remote canyons, cliff dwellings, and rock art. The Colorado Plateau is so varied that his calendar is booked for the next 100 years. He looks forward to the adventure and the chance to continue his photographic journey through this amazing landscape.
