Tips for Safe and Sober Workplace Parties
It’s that time of year again
where celebrations and parties kick in to full swing when individuals and
employers alike host Holiday parties. While
there are a number of ways to celebrate, often times the celebrations do include
alcohol.
As a friendly reminder,
please be aware that employers can and may be held liable if a person is
involved in an accident subsequent to consuming alcoholic beverages at such an
event. When finalizing the plans for a company party that includes alcohol,
please be sure to keep the following items in mind:
- If alcohol is going
to be served, make sure your employees know when to say
when.
- Inform the
employees in advance that they are expected to act
responsibly.
- Ensure that
there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available to choose from as
well.
- Ensure that
there is plenty of food available; consider serving food high in protein and
starch.
- Keep a
watchful eye on the attendees and their consumption.
- Anticipate
the need and arrange for alternative transportation.
- Stop
serving alcohol before the party is scheduled to actually
end.
