Houston Appointed Commissioner

 H. Thayne Houston was recently appointed by Utah Governor Gary Herbert, and approved by the Senate, to serve a 4 year term as a Real Estate Commissioner for the Utah Division of Real Estate.  The real estate commission is comprised of 5 members who serve staggered terms.  Four are from the real estate industry and 1 is from outside the industry.

Currently serving as Commissioners are Gary Hancock, Blaine Walker, Kay Ashton, Stephanie Tugaw-Madsen, and Thayne Houston.  Deanna Sabey, the new Director of the Utah Division of Real Estate, meets with the Real Estate Commission, typically once each month, to evaluate Utah Real Estate Laws and the Rules of the Division of Real Estate.  They also hold hearings for enforcement and penalties for licensed practitioners and those seeking a real estate license.  The Commission is charged with protecting the public and setting and enforcing rules for licensure and conduct of real estate practitioners.

Houston has been in the real estate industry since 1984 and is a partner and Principal Broker of ERA Brokers Consolidated with 6 office locations from Richfield to Mesquite.  Houston has served on many committees and also as President of the Washington County Board of Realtors.  He also has served in various positions with the Utah Association of Realtors as well as the Leadership UAR and Leadership Dixie Programs.

“I look forward to continuing to serve the public and my fellow real estate agents as a Commissioner for the state of Utah”, said Houston.
