An Evening with Friends for Huntsman Senior Games

The Huntsman World Senior Games and the BYU Alumni Association will "connect with friends worldwide" at the third annual Evening with Friends Sunday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the historic St. George Tabernacle.

Seats for 50 athletes are reserved. The remaining seats are free and open to the public.

Highlights of the evening will be guest speaker Stephen D. Nadauld, president of Dixie State College and former general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and choral selections by St. George’s Southern Utah Heritage Choir. For his address, Nadauld has chosen the topic of "Agency, Service and Leadership."

BYU has been a title sponsor of the games since their inception and Howard Gray, BYU gerontology professor, has been an HWSG ambassador for more than 20 years. With his help and the HWSG director’s support, the first "Evening with Friends" was launched in 2007. After the success of the first year, it is now an annual event.

Alumni chair of the event, Elaine Facer Davis (BA ’65), said, "We consider it a good fit for the games and the community. It also allows us to connect with our alumni, friends and athletes who are coming in for the games."

Stephen Nadauld earned a bachelor’s degree from BYU, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. President Nadauld has been a professor of finance at BYU, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Utah.

He has held several positions at BYU’s Marriott School of Business including director of the MBA program. He also served as president of Weber State University.

President Nadauld has authored several books and serves on a number of boards, including the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority. He has also served as a general authority and mission president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Southern Utah Heritage Choir has performed extensively as a non-denominational community choir. The choir has performed throughout the U.S. and abroad and leaves this October to perform in China.

The choir is directed by Keith Bradshaw, with associate director Nancy Allred and Carol Larson, accompanist. For more information, contact Elaine F. Davis at 435-229-5142.
