The Core V.I.P. Benefit Golf Tournament at Sand Hollow Resort
The
Core Veterans Integration Program will host the Freedom Cup, a charity
golf tournament, at Sand Hollow Golf Resort on July 2nd, 2009.
The
Core V.I.P is a non-profit organization helping Veterans and their
Families re-integrate into family life and the community once they have
returned from combat. This Non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization offers
counseling and retreats for veterans and their families at no cost.
Since
the beginning of the conflicts in 2001, approximately 1.6 million
soldiers have been deployed to either Iraq or Afghanistan. Out of those
soldiers, 30 percent will experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As
a result, 416,000 will become alcoholics or binge drinkers, 42,000 will
experience divorce, and 700 will commit suicide, according to the
website thecorevip.org.
The Core V.I.P. recognizes the
growing need for services to address the issues that arise from having
a combat experience, and are committed to addressing the emotional and
spiritual needs of our soldiers and their families, according to
the website thecorevip.org.
The tournament cost is $500 per
foursome, all earnings directly benefiting the Core V.I.P. The
tournament will include an opportunity drawing, prizes for closest to
the hole, beat the pro, and the longest drive.
Myatt Green, The
PGA Golf Professional at Sand Hollow Golf Resort, said, It's an
honor to hold a tournament that will directly benefit the men and women
who have sacrificed many years of their own personal lives to serve
this country.
The Tournament will start at 7:00 am, with
team check in at 6:00 am. To register a team, or to learn more about
core V.I.P, visit thecorevip.org.
A banquet will also be held
July 1, 2009 for Veterans from WWII , Vietnam, Korea, present day
Operation Iraq Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
