Cell Phones for Soldiers still being collected at University of Phoenix
Greg
Robinson, Operations Supervisor, University of Phoenix, St. George
Learning Center announced that the St. George Campus collected over 100
cell phones during the recent Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign. "We
collected the lion’s share of the total for all our Utah campuses. It
is great the St. George community is so supportive of our soldiers.
The old cell phones the community donated will be used and exchanged to
purchase calling cards for our troops," said Robinson.
The Cell
Phones for Soldiers program was started in April 2004 by then
13-year-old Brittany Bergquist and her 12-year-old brother Robbie of
Norwell, Massachusetts. Robbie and Brittany's goal is to help our
soldiers serving overseas call home. They hope to provide as many
soldiers as possible with prepaid calling cards. Through generous
donations and the recycling of used cell phones, Robbie and Brittany
have already distributed thousands of calling cards to soldiers around
the globe. For more information on this program visit

According to Robinson, "The
people who dropped off the cell phone donations thought it was great
that University of Phoenix was involved in supporting the troops and
they too wanted to also help. I understand we had almost 3 times as
many phones donated as the Utah Main Learning Center, so our community
continues to show great support for this ongoing, permanent initiative
on the part of University of Phoenix." To drop off cell phones
to be recycled for the Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign you can take
them to University of Phoenix, Utah Campus, St. George Learning Center
located at 965 E. 700 S. Suite 304, St. George.
