University of Phoenix To Honor Largest-Ever Graduating Class May 2

Utah’s University of Phoenix Campus breaks a record this year.  The largest-ever graduating class of 1,550 students will receive degrees in the 2009 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 2 at the E Center in West Valley City. Twenty-five Percent of 1,550 Diploma Earners Attended Classes Online.  The St. George Campus will see the largest number of individuals to receive degrees during these graduation exercises.  The graduates are residents of the following southern Utah communities: Cedar City, Hurricane, Ivins, Nephi, Richfield, St. George, and Washington City.

University of Phoenix opened its doors in Utah in 1984, with nine faculty members, 31 students and two classrooms. The first graduation was held at the Hotel Utah in 1986. Today, more than 5,000 Utahns are enrolled and learning in classrooms and in online programs taught by 450 Utah faculty members.
