The man lovingly referred to as Ranger Bart passed away quietly at his home in St. George yesterday. Bart Anderson is known by thousands of area residents as the expert on local hiking and local history.
Details of funeral services are still pending.
Bart served the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce as a member of its board of directors, as a Sunshiner an ambassador and as a regular volunteer. Bart was honored in January of 2009 by the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce with the “Spirit of Dixie” award at the annual awards banquet.
Bart served on many the local boards of many non-profit civic organizations. He greeted thousands of visitors over a period of many years in his capacity as a volunteer at the visitor center for the Chamber of Commerce. Bart traveled all over the county, and the state delivering presentations on the colorful history of Southern Utah.
