The St. George Area Chamber of Commerce is making it easier
for all local businesses to get information about the E-Verify program which
assists the operators of businesses to make certain they are hiring persons that
can legally work in the United States.
A new link has been placed on the Chamber website at www.stgeorgechamber.com that connects
to the E-verify site. To find the link, website visitors should click on
Business Resources, then click on Business Information and Links and then click
on E-verify to get important information on this program provided by The United
States Department of Homeland Security.
Many government entities are now requiring that government
contractors use E-Verify in order to qualify to do business with the government.
Since 2007 The St. George Area Chamber of Commerce has
sponsored workshops on E-Verify and provided its members with information to
assist them in obeying the law which requires that all employees are qualified
to work in the United States. The St. George Area Chamber of Commerce has
promoted the E-Verify program because of its belief that that local businesses
will benefit from a business environment in which all competitors in the
marketplace will play by the same rules.
