New Home For Crafters Opens In St. George

The Crafter’s Emporium, formerly EmbroidMe, has opened its doors to vendors. The 1,000 square foot store, located at 435 N. 1680 E. # 3 , is offering booth space for rent on a monthly basis to crafters who would like to sell their wares. The store will still handle top of the line custom embroidery and garment printing they have just added a new twist.

Store owner, Shirley Summy, is an avid fan of craft fairs and has not only attended but has participated in countless numbers of fairs herself and thought that there had to be a better way to market home made items. Summy decided to open her doors in a way that is a little out of the ordinary and to her knowledge not done in St. George at all.

Instead of the customary consignment contracts which give the vendors very little return for their work, Summy is renting space on a monthly basis and offering very reasonable prices. Craft Fairs usually offer one table per person at an outrageous cost to the vendor and are only there for the weekend or a week at most. “You have to make a lot of sales in order to just get your money back.” says Summy, “Most of the time that sort of thing never works out to really make anyone any money.”

When you think about the time and effort spent loading, unloading, setting up and tearing down each and every item, the cost of booth space at a fair and travel time to and from each location, it just makes sense to set up a permanent display in a retail environment.

Summy offers a variety of options to the vendors as far as space and price, something to fit everyone’s budget. To the consumer, the store is a veritable smorgasbord of hand made items.
The store currently houses crafts for seven vendors with items such as home décor, magnetic jewelry, beaded jewelry, vinyl lettering, woodworking and crocheted items. There is something for everyone and things are constantly being added to the inventory.

The Crafter’s Emporium is very particular about what and who they bring into the mix. "Everything we sell is unique, you won’t find that we have 10 different vendors selling the same items”. says Summy. If you are looking for something completely different from what you’ll find at the large retail stores, this is the place to shop and if you are looking to market your talents, this is the place to do that as well.

The Crafter's Emporium also offers custom embroidery and garment printing for individuals or businesses and can produce company logos on shirts, hats or jackets. The staff will work with customers on an individual basis to create something truly personal such as embroidering quilt squares, towels, blankets etc. They can also print photos or custom graphics onto fabrics like t-shirts, pillowcases hoodies or almost anything you can think of.

Currently business hours are from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday but are subject to change to meet future business demands.
