Holiday Homes on the Annual Guild Christmas Home Tour

Celebrity Concert Series Guild has sponsored the Homes for the Holidays tour for twenty-two years, an annual tradition that began in 1986.  Eight to eleven homes are selected for the two-day tour each year.  A map of the tour is given with the ticket and a person proceeds to the homes at their own pace and  sequence.  Some of the homes are new, lavish and beautiful in their own right, others are gorgeous and creatively decorated giving visitors some great ideas for their own decorations.  The entire project is a fund-raising event for Celebrity Concert Series, the arts and scholarships to Dixie State College. “This exciting Christmas ritual began 22 years ago, explains Cara Whitehead, Chair of the event, “and continues with even greater enthusiasm and excitement. Some of the homes on this year’s tour are elegant and stunning.  Others are more artistic and provocative.  One of the homes on this year’s tour reminds one of a Currier and Ives Christmas Card.  Another home, which has been on the tour several other seasons, displays an awesome train that everyone should see.  Another home has a collection of Nativity Scenes from all over the world and another is decorated like one of Christmas’s long ago.  All are brimming with the Spirit of Christmas.”  “Some ideas are so simple.” said Whitehead, “ inspiring tour guests to replicate them at home.  Others are more extensive and exciting just to ooh and ha over.  The shows gives guests a child-like feeling of Christmas.”  Each home is unique and interesting with it’s own personality accentuated with Christmas music and fragrances.  Guests are enthralled with the tour and many get inspired for their own holiday enhancements.” A purchased ticket for $10, includes a map of the homes on display. Guests drive to each home, in any order preferred.  The homes are located from Ivins, Santa Clara and St. George..  Signs are placed at strategic places along the route to guide patrons to the correct location. A hostess greets guests and suggests unusual and unique decorations to see and may even give history of interesting objects. Guests leisurely stroll through each home basking in the ambience and holiday spirit. Paper and pen are necessary implements and heartily encouraged since creative juices flow freely from the very first house to the end of the tour. All proceeds from the show support the arts and scholarships in Southern Utah, which is an additional benefit for attending.  The $10 tickets are available at Lins, Harmons, Little Professor’s Bookstore, and the Cox Auditorium Box Office or from individual board members.
