Southern Utah Heritage Choir Fall Concert

Join the Heritage Choir in welcoming back tenor Jordan Bluth as their guest artist for their annual Fall concert, “It’s a Grand Night for Singing,” to he held Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 7:30 pm at the Dixie State College Cox Auditorium. Those who attended the Heritage Choir’s Spring Concert will recall with delight Jordan’s beautiful voice and interpretation of music.  Jordan will be performing several solo numbers as well as joining with the choir in a rousing arrangement of the spiritual “Shut De Do” and the earnestly pleading “Give Me Jesus.”  Your hearts and spirits will soar with the beautiful music as you let Jordan Bluth and the Heritage Choir not only entertain you, but also fill your souls with solace, peace, and love through the words and music presented.

“It’s a Grand Night for Singing” says it all for the members of the Heritage Choir.  This body of around 200 volunteers has been meeting twice weekly in preparation for this concert as well as many other events that are taking place during this Cultural Arts Month for Southern Utah. Their love for singing will shine through the varied repertoire of this concert.  Beginning with a grand arrangement by Ronald Staheli of “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” to the ethereal “Choose Something Like a Star” by Randall Thompson to the sublime “O Splendor of God’s Glory Bright” written by Mack Wilberg, there is music and text for all to enjoy.

Dr. Keith Bradshaw and Dr. Nancy Allred will share the conducting duties with founding director, Floyd Rigby.  Dr. Allred and Carol Larsen will accompany the choir and guest soloist, Jordan Bluth.

This will be a one night only performance, so get your tickets early.  The Fall Concert is one of two concerts per year used by the Heritage Choir to raise money to support their mission of bringing people to Christ through music.  This money is used to purchase new music and to pay for operating expenses.  Choir members also pay quarterly dues to support the choir financially and pay for their own wardrobe.  All monies collected are used directly to support the choir’s mission.  Tickets are available from any choir member for $10.  You may also call the Heritage Choir office at 673-5507 – the office is open on Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 2:00 pm.  Nancy Jackson, the choir’s ticket chairperson, is available at 673-5666 for tickets or information.  Tickets are also available through the Dixie State College Ticket office 673-7800 or online at http://dixie.edu.
