InfoWest and SouthWest Federal Credit Union have teamed up to help Santa come early this year to those in need.
“You don’t need to be a customer of InfoWest or a member of SouthWest Federal to contribute. You can make a donation in person at any of SouthWest Federal’s six branch locations or the business offices of InfoWest in St. George and Cedar City” said Lorri Kocinski-Puchlik, marketing partner with SouthWest Federal Credit Union.
According to Dixie Care & Share Director Kara Coop, without cash contributions through the lean months of late summer and early fall the only options for Dixie and Iron County Care and Shares would be to cut back services or tap into their “rainy day” savings.
“With the recent economic downturn, the need is even greater this year,” said Randy Cosby, Vice-President of InfoWest and the Volunteer Board Chairman for Dixie Care and Share. “Five to 10 families register for Dixie Care and Share each day. These families are our neighbors, co-workers, and friends. At the current level of need, Dixie Care and Share will be out of food by the end of September.”
Cosby who has served on the all-volunteer board of trustees for Dixie Care and Share for the past four years has seen staff, volunteers and local church, business and civic leaders pull together to keep Care and Share afloat, often on a shoe string.
The Dixie and Iron County Care and Shares are more than just food banks. Services provided include: emergency shelter, meals for shelter residents, showers for residents and local homeless people, store vouchers for milk for children, emergency clothing, Salvation Army travel voucher distribution, transitional housing, case management and Renter’s Fresh Start Training as well as life skills coaching. Virtual donations can also be made by going online to a secure site: www.infowest.com/Santa or to http://SouthWestFederal.com. Learn more at www.dixiecareandshare.org.
