3rd Annual Utah Procurement Symposium
To assist Utah businesses in obtaining or increasing government contracting opportunities, PTAC is hosting its 3rd Annual Utah Procurement Symposium at the SouthTowne Exposition Center on October 21. The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. There will be breakout training sessions, where attendees will receive specialized guidance from nationally recognized speakers and panel discussions that focus on the following topics:
One Hour Presentations (8:30 - 9:30 a.m.) 1. Getting Started in PTAC and Procurement 2. E-Verify Employment Verification System 3. SBA Procurement Center Representative Overview 4. Business to Business in the Commercial Market
Hour and a Half Presentations (10:30 – 12 noon) 1. Government Certifications That Generate Business - Learn How to Certify 2. ISO 9000:2000 and AS9100 Certification Overview 3. SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) Federal Grant Program Overview 4. Sell Your Products or Services on the GSA Schedule 5. How to Write Winning Proposals
Since attendees will not be able to attend every breakout session, Lange says CDs containing PowerPoint presentations of the sessions will be available. Following the breakout sessions, Governor Jon Huntsman will address the audience in a short speech. In the afternoon, the symposium will open up in trade show style, with exhibit booths hosted by large prime contractors and government agencies. Lange says Utah companies are invited to visit each booth, introduce themselves, and learn about the contracting opportunities available.
“It’s really like a reverse tradeshow,” Lange adds. “Every Utah business, whether large or small, has the opportunity to meet senior officials from military, state and local government purchasing offices, as well as several major prime contractors, who are always searching for qualified sub-contractors.”
Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit exhibits and receive assistance from the financial community, interested businesses, small business associations, economic development offices, chambers of commerce, as well as military contractors and government offices.
“If a company sells a product or service to the general population, it is very likely that the same product or service can be sold to the government or military,” Lange says. “From engineering, environmental remediation and asphalt services to paper products, aircraft engine parts and high technology support, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) will assist your company in becoming an approved supplier.”
Cost: $50 per person for the first person and $35 for each additional registration from the same company . The fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and all the training sessions, exhibits and materials.
